Questions about registration, volunteering, background checks and more.  Updated Fall '23

How do I register my player?

Visit  Guadalupe Little League website  and select “Login” or “Register” to log in or create your account. From there, complete your player’s info and select a division within the Fall Baseball 2023 program (once league divisions are input in website for registration) and pay online. In-Person registration will be August 19th and 20th from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Stottlemyre Park.

I don’t know what age group to register my child in, what should I do?

Register your child for the division that the website suggests, which is based on the player’s league age (see league age chart). If you have questions or are concerned about which division your player needs to be placed in, please speak with a coach or board member at the showcase or email us at [email protected].

What are the league divisions?

In general the divisions will be split as following:

T-ball: Only 4-6-year-olds will play in this division. This division is pure instructional baseball, where basic fundamentals and techniques are taught. At this level, the ball is placed on a tee and the child completes the at bat. This is not a competitive division.

Farm Division: Ages 6-8 (6-year-olds who are deemed capable of playing up may do so if approved. Basic skills are refined and stressed. At this level players are taught to hit pitched balls by (non-electric) machine. Players are taught game basics and prepare to play at a faster pace.

Minors*Ages 8-10 (8-year-olds who are deemed capable of playing up may do so.  This is the first level of kid pitch. Fundamental skills are stressed, games move at a faster pace, game strategies are also taught. Mandatory play is enforced.

Majors*Ages 10-12 (10-year-olds who are deemed capable of playing up may do so.)  While fundamental skills are stressed, advanced skills are taught and developed. Games are fast paced. Mandatory play is enforced.

Juniors: Ages 13-14 The Junior League is designed to encourage players to continue to play and improve their skill development. The Juniors teams play against teams from other Juniors programs in our District. New rules are introduced, such as lead offs, pick offs and balks. In the baseball division, the game is played on a field with 90-feet between bases and a 60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance. Our Juniors program is determined based on pre-season demand.

How is a player's "League Age" determined?

League Age is determined by Little League International.  Here is a link to the Age Calculator

I know Tempe Guadalupe Little League is run by volunteers, and I’d like to help out, but I don’t have a lot of time/can’t be at every practice/don’t know much about baseball… Do you still need me?

Absolutely! We are always in need of volunteers, whether it is coaches, assistant coaches, team parent helpers, scorekeepers, pitch counters or helpers for events like Opening/Closing Day. Go to TGLLbaseball.com and log in to your account (where you registered your child for the season). If another person registered your child, you will need to create your own account. In the Menu/Sidebar select Volunteer. Click the button (upper right) for Find Volunteer Roles. Select one of the volunteer opportunities (select General if you don’t know). Click the Continue Button (lower right). The next page will ask about contact info and background questions. The rules of the Little League International require that all volunteers have a background check yearly. All background checks are done through a reputable company selected by Little League International. That’s it! If you have issues, let us know in person or by email at [email protected].

The background check is kind of stressing me out – tell me more.

A criminal background check is required by Little League International for all volunteers. It is free, secure, private and completed by JDP, a professional background check company. Results of the background check are submitted to the league Safety Officer, however, none of your private information, such as social security number and addresses are stored or shown to league representatives.

The background items that exclude a person from volunteering are crimes against minors, sex crimes, violent crimes, etc. Most misdemeanors will not exclude a person from volunteering unless it would affect the safety of the children or resources of the league. If you have more questions, email us at [email protected] and we’ll be glad to address your concerns. The process is quick and easy, it’s required, and it helps keep our kids safe.

Can my child be placed on a team with one of their friends / family member?

Tempe Guadalupe Little League allows requests to be on the same team together in the divisions, if teams have not already been formed.  If teams have been formed, we will do our best to honor requests, but we also need to consider the size of each team and skill level of all teams.  Please indicate friend request with a note on the registration form.

What equipment will my child need before the first practice or game?

Players should arrive at their first practice with a glove, baseball pants/sweat pants, rubber molded cleats, baseball bat with USA sticker and a batting helmet. A baseball bag is recommended to transport bats, batting gloves, water bottles, hats, and other items. Please make sure all personally owned equipment is labeled with a name and phone number so TGLL can return it if lost.  Each team will be provided catcher’s equipment by the league,  however, players are welcome to bring their own catcher's equipment.

Are there any uniform supplies my child needs?

A uniform consists of a pair of baseball pants, belt, a baseball jersey, a hat, and a pair of baseball socks.
Tempe Guadalupe Little League is able to offer a hat & jersey, which comes with the registration fee.  Players will need to purchase their own pants, socks, and belt.

Players must also bring their own athletic cup (no cup needed for T-ball). Rubber cleats are highly recommended, and steel spikes are not allowed in any divisions, except Juniors. A quality leather glove is highly recommended.

What days and times are the games played?

All teams in Tempe Guadalupe Little League are scheduled for games twice a week. Game days are typically Monday - Saturday.

Weekday games generally will begin at 5pm or 5:30pm , and if there is a second game the start time would be right after the completiong of the first.. Coaches determine when to show up before game time, but it is recommended that players arrive at the field at least 45 minutes prior to game time so they can properly warm up, and managers can get the line-up cards ready prior to the start of the game.

What volunteer positions are available?

Tempe Guadalupe Little League is managed by an elected Board of Directors that administers the league in line with established bylaws. The league is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization.  We encourage you to volunteer for the league or on the board.

Please send us an email or come to any board meeting to see how you can help us out!   You may chose to help with specific team duties as a coach or team parent.  You may also choose to help with administrative duties or various committees to organize events throughout the season.

What is the league's safety plan?

The League Safety Plan can be emailed or viewed in hard copy upon request.
